Bio

Ian T Gillan is an alternative folk musician living in Steinkjer, Norway. He`s a singer-songwriter and performer of original heartfelt, heroically sad and humorous songs with a plentiful helping of good old fashioned rock & roll.

Ian's family moved from Trondheim to London when he was five years old. His father was a troubadour playing concerts in the UK and Europe in the 1960's & 1970's supporting artists like Rod Stewart, Zombies and The Troggs. From an early age Ian grew up listening to the likes of Hank Willams, Lonnie Donegan, Willie Nelson, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Townes Van Zandt and Johnny Cash etc, and there was always guitars, banjos and mandolins around the house. It was a natural progression for the young Ian to start learning these instruments.

Growing up in London Ian was drawn to the music scene and started playing in bands in his teenage years where he wrote, played guitar and sang in various bands in the rock and grunge scene. While playing many shows and having a great time his heart was drawn back to his musical roots and began focusing his songwriting to his true love of acoustic driven music with elements of folk, country, blues and Americana. Music from the heart for people with a heart.

Fast forward to 2010 Ian had become jaded whith his job in the aerospace industry and tired of the dog eat dog world of business, tired of the constant traveling, airports, traffic and corporate psychobabble and decided to move back to the county of his formative years, a place which has always pulled on his heartstrings and re focus on what he wanted in life.

Ian is now well ingrained in the fabric of Trøndlag music scene playing gigs, festivals and corporate events.
